Our Branch of the
Shapcotts of Whitestone / Exeter
This interesting family had strong musical connections.
John Shapcott IV of Exeter was a Dyer and a Professor of Music.
During the late 1840’s he and sons formed a Band which was known as the
“Musical Shapcotts”
The band teamed up with the great Temperance Campaign which was gaining much support at this time.
Ironically later several of the band members went on to become Publicans.
